Tucked away on the lobby level at the Marriott Beach & Golf Resort, Conroy’s calls out to Islanders and visitors alike for an evening of elegant dining. Crystal clear windows all but disappear into the lush greenery, leading the way to a vast expanse of cool Atlantic waters, setting the scene for a perfect end to a day at the beach or a hard day at the office.

Expect a warm welcome, radiating from the hostess stand to the friendly, efficient wait staff. The elegant, yet unpretentious atmosphere grants permission to relax. Dress is vacation casual, and families with children are welcome.

When a variety of breads and savory crackers magically appear on your table, the fun has just begun. As you might expect, the menu is teeming with fresh seafood selections, including award-winning jumbo lump crab cakes served with sizzled spinach and dill beurre blanc. Fish lovers delight in succulent Chilean sea bass, hazelnut crusted in a pool of luscious lemon chive buerre blanc, while beef eaters appreciate the selection of certified Angus steaks with a choice of sumptuous sauces. Can’t decide between land and sea? Have the best of both with the filet and lobster combo.

Before you dive into the main course, take a dip in the appetizer pool. Choose the shrimp cocktail (and jumbo means jumbo) or sample the famous crab cakes in miniature. For a taste of pure heaven, go for the lobster mac and cheese—to die for!

Shifting to the second course, you haven’t lived until you’ve tried the creamy Lowcountry favorite she crab soup. And when Mama said, “Eat your greens,” she must have had Conroy’s in mind. Enjoy a traditional Caesar or get a taste of the South with crispy sweet Vidalia onions atop limestone Bibb.

While sipping your cocktail and digesting the menu, take a moment to peruse the wine list. Conroy’s offers a carefully chosen collection of wines at a price point to meet every budget. If you need help deciding, the knowledgeable sommelier will graciously suggest the perfect pairing to complement your meal.

Once dinner is on the way, if you can peel your eyes away from the natural view, take note of the open chef’s kitchen. Watch as every plate is prepared to perfection with the utmost pride and professionalism.

Whatever you do, save room for dessert. Prepare to be tempted by the decadent nine-layer chocolate cake—devilishly delicious, generous enough to share. For a sweet taste of the islands, treat yourself to the key lime log, in a chocolate crust, drizzled with raspberry sauce—a slightly different twist on the Key West classic; or indulge in the piña colada cheesecake. Finish with a specialty coffee or aperitif; and take home a Pat Conroy novel, autographed by the famous Southern author for whom the restaurant is named.

After dinner, why not enjoy the live music at the adjacent bar or take a stroll on the moonlit beach? And don’t forget to make reservations for your next night out.
