“It will be a Happy Halloween,” says Renay McClain, marketing director of Coligny Plaza. “It’s a childhood fantasy Halloween come true.”
McClain is referring to the annual Coligny Plaza Halloween Carnival, on the evening of Oct. 27. The public is invited to Coligny’s kiosk area to enjoy a myriad of merriment and trick-or-treating throughout the Plaza.
Festivities include games and prizes, a deejay and costume contests for all ages. A highlight is the Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Booth and hat giveaway. Previous carnivals have also included dunking booths and ghost stories.
Merchants go all out for the event. Many are dressed in costume amid spooky decorations. Family fun activities at the Art Café, cookie decorating at The Coligny Bakery and “Witches Brew” served up by Just Pasta have been favorites in the past.
“I love the Halloween Carnival,” says Lois Kaiser, owner of The Bird’s Nest. “Last year, we gave out over 450 bags of candy, and even many of the parents were dressed up.”
Coligny Plaza’s Halloween Carnival is a safe alternative to traditional trick-or-treating. Awnings and walkways provide protection from the weather, should it be needed. The “block party” atmosphere surrounded by the natural beauty of Coligny Plaza creates a true old-fashioned carnival atmosphere.
“It’s our biggest event,” says McClain of the hundreds expected to attend. “There couldn’t be a more perfect place to celebrate Halloween.”
