As you’ve probably guessed if you’ve read any of his writing, Barry is a giant nerd. Specifically, his jam is the long-running video game series The Legend of Zelda. This stretches all the way back to his Michigan childhood, running around swinging sticks at imaginary monsters, and carries through to the names of his three children, chosen to represent the three aspects of the Triforce: wisdom, courage and power. If you don’t know what that last sentence meant, ask your local nerd.

Three nights a week, Barry rocks a microphone as the host of B-Town Trivia at The Bank, Captain Woody’s Bluffton and Lot 9 Brewing Company. Beyond just handing out prizes, he’s used the game as a fundraising platform, collecting goods for Bluffton Self Help and donations for locals in need.

Barry is very aware of the reputation given to fans of his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes and attempts to fight them by occasionally admitting other teams have good qualities as well. Just not Michigan. Or Clemson, as he has one child at USC and another headed there in the fall.

A newly minted member of the American Red Cross’ Three Gallon Club, Barry has been a regular donor since college. His personal record for filling a bag is three minutes and four seconds, just above the three-minute threshold at which they are required to get you medical help for your fast bleeding.

Barry has been writing professionally for 23 years, launching Kaufman Copy in 2017. Along with (obviously) magazine articles, he writes for businesses, real estate agents, and organizations, providing them with whatever they need to be written, from press releases to MLS descriptions.
