Look, nobody is expecting you to read this whole story. In fact, you should be proud you made it this far without being distracted by the mouth-watering images that surround these words.
It would be perfectly understandable if you were to give up after this paragraph and simply drink in the vibrant visual of Java Burrito’s fresh ingredients expertly crafted into the dishes you see here.

A trio of tacos at Java Burrito, where everything is fresh and made to order.
You’re only human. Faced with photos of the island’s most celebrated Mexican food, what can you do but hope you don’t drool on your magazine?
That’s just what sets Java Burrito apart. You can get a burrito anywhere, but here it’s elevated to an artform. Each colorful ingredient, carefully selected for freshness and authenticity, brings a brilliant pop to every bite, even as it lends its magic to a complex flavor profile.

Java Burrito is located in the Village at Wexford.
“We’re pretty tried and true in what we’ve given our customers over the last 14 years. We’re just making sure we use fresh products and whole foods, then prepare everything in house from scratch using traditional methods,” said Frederika Feketé, who owns Java Burrito with her husband, Michael. “So many parts of the industry are moving away from those traditional methods, but we’re trying to keep that Old World integrity.”
When you nail the ingredients and the methods, everything else falls into place. Every dish on the menu, whether it’s the gut-busting bliss of a massive burrito or the simple pleasure of fresh veggies and house-made salsa and guacamole in a bowl, carries the same pedigree of excellence.
“We always wanted Java Burrito to be that place where everyone can get something they like and know that it will be quality. We’re very detail oriented, but that’s how we keep the integrity,” Feketé said. She acknowledges that this level of dedication takes a little more work – but look at these photos and say it isn’t worth it. “We’re just lucky enough to have a great team and great customers who keep the wheels spinning.”

An array of colorful cocktails you can enjoy at Java Burrito.
That same level of care goes beyond the plate at Java Burrito. Having gained equal fame for their coffee as their burritos, the staff here makes sure whatever is in your cup is crafted from the best ingredients.
“We have an excellent roaster we partner with, Savannah Coffee Roasters, whose beans have this great low acidity that makes for a smooth brew. And we brew all of our cold brew in-house,” Feketé said. “I don’t want to say I’m a cold brew snob, but ours is all I drink.”
Coffee isn’t the only liquid pick-me-up on offer at Java Burrito.

“We have the best margarita in South Carolina, because, just like our food, we keep it simple, we keep it fresh, and we keep it pure,” Feketé said. “We don’t use any mixers, just fresh ingredients the way it’s supposed to be.”
It turns out when you’re a little bit obsessive about each ingredient that goes into your food, that translates into some magical cocktails. Locally sourced produce has always been a key part of Java Burrito’s menu, and sometimes one flavor will find its way into multiple items.
“The peach margarita is made from the nectar of the local peaches in the peach salsa,” Feketé said. “It’s also in the bellini. We’re not a bar in the typical sense but we’re proud to serve a great array of drinks.”
Beyond the famed margaritas, Java Burrito has been bowling over the brunch crowd with their signature Bloody Mary, served with a slice of bacon. “That’s something Michael really worked to perfect, and people love it. It’s super popular,” Feketé said.

Beautiful burritos made to your specifications.
Add to this a selection of spirits that even includes hard-to-find bourbons, and you have everything you need to complement whichever of the mouth-watering dishes you choose. And you can rest assured that whatever you order, it will be prepared with the best ingredients possible, using techniques that draw out the best flavors from those ingredients, and served with integrity.
“We’re so grateful to the community that we have a strong local customer base so we can afford to not cut corners,” Feketé said. “We’re incredibly lucky.”
If you made it this far without rushing out the door to get your next burrito fix, we salute your self-control. Now you can head down to the Village at Wexford and go get your own. Check out the full menu at javaburrito.com
