Autumn has always marked new beginnings for me. Perhaps as an October baby it was the way I clocked my first year and, since then, all successive seasons. Even as I sit enjoying the last few days of summer (spent frittering away the hours camping in the Adirondacks) I look forward to coming home rejuvenated to a new season of Island life.

Having said that, it is somehow fitting that that we introduce Celebrate Hilton Head in September. As the season begins to change (albeit a little slower in the South) so are we. Our new format includes the best of what CELEBRATION! has become over the past ten years coupled with a few new surprises you are sure to enjoy.

One thing that has made CELEBRATON! unique as a publication is our integration of a loyalty program, the Diamond Club, which rewards cardholders with discounts at over 140 island businesses. Starting with this issue, instead of two publications (one with feature articles and one with a directory of Business Partner discounts) we will be combining both into a monthly publication. Discounts to cardholders will be listed in the ads throughout Celebrate Hilton Head. See page 56 for a helpful reference sheet listing all discounts and participating businesses. We suggest ripping it out and placing it in your wallet to maximize your Diamond Club savings.

Our feature articles have always spotlighted local businesses and the owners of such who make up our community. This will not change but expand to include other interesting Islanders. See page to read about Larry Paton, Hilton Head’s very own beekeeper and honey farmer.

Celebrate Hilton Head’s mission is to bring you interesting and affirmative stories about Hilton Head and the surrounding Lowcountry brought to you by local writers who know and live in our community.

Currently we are mailing Celebrate Hilton Head to over 27,000 residents of Hilton Head and Bluffton.

We welcome comments and submissions and hope you enjoy the inaugural issue of Celebrate Hilton Head. Let the new season begin!

Editor’s Note: When 205 Is a Lot

I’ve never been one to look in the rearview mirror. Once an issue of CH2 is in print, there’s a 90% chance I never flip through it. At that point in the month, I’m deep in production with photo shoots for the next issue and in the planning stages for the one after...

Editor’s Note: “Everything Always Works Out”

One of the first times I ever met or talked to Randy Rose of Rose Hearing Healthcare Centers, he said that to me. I remember it so vividly – even to this day. It must have been something I needed to hear at the time, although, as it has been almost a decade, I can’t...
