Lynne was bitten by the theatre bug in high school, thanks to her drama teacher, Mr. Thigpen. Her first acting experience on Hilton Head Island was in “A Streetcar Named Desire” in 1985 at Hilton Head Community Playhouse (shout out to her director, Dallas Dunnagan!). Later, she appeared in shows with Main Street Youth Theatre (now Main Stage Community Theatre) and May River Theatre. In 2023, when friends asked her to join the board of the new theatre they started, she eagerly accepted. Sea Glass Stage Company, based at Coligny Theatre, opened in January 2024. Lynne has been onstage in three shows, most recently “Steel Magnolias,” and also has stage managed, foraged for props, moved set pieces, worked the ticket counter, made popcorn, and cleaned bathrooms.

Lynne loves a bargain and is a frequent thrifter. (This top and funky necklace were both thrift store finds.) She also enjoys donating usable things her household no longer needs to the nonprofit stores that help fund missions that she supports. She has a symbiotic relationship with several stores: She takes good, saleable items (like these toys) to donate at their back door, then goes around to their front door to shop! Her favorites are Osprey Village Thrift, St. Luke’s Church Mouse, Bargain Box, and Litter Box.

As a journalism student at the University of South Carolina, Lynne discovered there was a name – and a real-life job description – for what she had been doing naturally every time she read a newspaper, magazine, or menu. In addition to being a writer, she was also an editor, meaning she was compelled to correct errors that jumped off the page. After retiring as a neoffspaper editor in 2023, she still felt the itch to write and edit and was thrilled that Maggie gave her that opportunity at CH2/CB2.

With two busy schedules (even though they are both retired), Lynne and Amos don’t take many vacations. When they do travel, their favorite destination is the mountains of North Carolina, specifically Brevard. They enjoy finding and watching the resident white squirrels, seeking out waterfalls, and just relaxing in the mountain air.
